Opticology celebrates 20 years of successfully serving customers in optical design, engineering, and fabrication. Established in January 1999, the company has evolved as one of the leading service provider for outsourced optical engineering and design. Providing fabrication and prototype building services is an essential part of the business and important and necessary to customers in R&D and product development. Entrenched in the industry, Opticology also supplies optical and mechanical components on an OEM basis with the same level of service. Customers primarily consist of large corporations in the fields of medical device and industrial systems.

Following its original mission of exemplary service, the tradition lives on. "There are lots of folks out there providing design or with the machinery to produce precision optics." says Tony Cappo, Principal Optical Engineer. "But without good service - knowing you will get efficient and elegant design, get you parts on time, or clever solutions when there is a problem - it is virtually worthless. We always strive for good engineering and good communication with the customer whether it is designing a part or system or supplying volume components. Our customers don't like surprises and neither do we."

And what is in store for future? "Opticology has remained very close knit and stayed small so we can properly serve existing clients, be selective on the work we choose to do, and maintain our R&D projects and support our spin off companies." There has been talk of casting a wider net and accepting more commercial clients steering away from R&D. "We'll see." says Cappo.
